This is one of our favorite burger recipe, it is simple and delicious. It pairs well with a lager beer.
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
1 pound lean ground turkey
1/3 cup shredded zucchini
1/3 cup shredded carrots
1/3 cup finely minced onion
1/3 cup finely minced green pepper
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 egg beaten
1/4 cup lager beer
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
4 burger onion buns
All or any of the following to serve: sliced tomato, mayonnaise, ketchup, handful iceberg lettuce, red onion, sliced avocado
Directions
- Prepare grill for direct cooking.
- Combine ground turkey, zucchini, carrots, onion, green pepper, salt and pepper in a medium bowl; mix lightly. Stir in egg, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and beer; mix lightly until blended. Shape into four patties.
- Grill over medium heat, covered, 8 to 10 minutes (or uncovered 13 to 15 minutes) to medium turning once. Don’t press the meat, as that will squeeze out the juices.
- Take the burgers off the grill. Leave to rest on a plate so that all the juices can settle inside. Slice each bun in half. Place, cut-side down, on the grill rack and toast for 1 min until they are lightly charred. Place the burger inside each bun, then top with your choice of accompaniment.
