On my way home from work I decided to cook today something quick and easy . It comes to my mind, how about  boil some pasta and make a spaghetti sauce with some extra ingredients? I stop at the supermarket to buy some groceries and got home. This is cookandbooze so I have open a cold beer and start cooking. And here is my recipe.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 1 JAR OF ITALIAN SAUCE ( I USED THE TOMATO, BASIL & GARLIC FLAVOR)
  • 1 LB OF GROUND BEEF
  • 2 MILD ITALIAN SAUSAGES
  • 1 ONION CHOPPED IN WEDGES
  • 1 SWEET RED BELL PEPPER
  • 1 CAN OF ITALIAN CHOPPED TOMATOES
  • 1 TBS SOFRITO ( USED AS A BASE IN MOST PUERTO RICAN DISHES)
  • SALT, PEPPER
  • 2 CLOVES OF GARLIC
  • 1 TBS OLIVE OIL
  • 1 TBS ITALIAN SEASONING
  • 1 BOX PENNE PASTA

PROCEDURE:

Heat the olive oil in medium heat using a large pan. Add the onions, peppers and sausages and cook for a couple of minutes until the sausages brown a little. Add the garlic and stirring for 2 minutes. Remove everything from the pan keep the juices. Add the ground beef and cook accordingly. When the beef is brown add the onions, peppers and sausages, stir well to combine. Add the chopped tomatoes and the Italian sauce. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer, about 20 minutes. Serve with the pasta. Add some garlic bread if you like.

Enjoy it.
